FAQs About Stud Service
What is the cost of your stud service?
Mason is available at stud for a fee of $600.00. We accept cash, Money Orders, Cashier's Checks, and Paypal. We also consider the possibility of pick of the litter instead of a stud fee. We choose whether we would prefer a stud fee or a pick of the litter puppy. We must first consider the mother's temperament, health, appearance, and pedigree. Sometimes, we would love to have a puppy, but we just aren't always looking to expand our number of dogs. Please don't be offended if we aren't open to the option of first pick puppy from your female! If you would like to use a credit card with Paypal to pay for your stud service , please visit our Paying With Paypal page.
Where are you located?
We are located in Wheelersburg, Ohio. This is a small town located in southern Ohio in Scioto County.
Who goes to who's home?
You must bring your female to our home to be bred. No, this is not just for our convenience. Females are less likely to feel threatened and are more willing to breed in a new place. Males feel more confident in their own territory. If allowed to do so, females will naturally wander away from home to breed, so it is an instinct for a female to seek out a mate.
When does my female need to be bred?
A female's heat cycle can last as long as 21 days, but she is usually receptive, or ready to breed around days 10-14. However, this is the average dog. All dogs are unique individuals and some females may vary on the actual day(s) they will allow a male to mount them. We ask that you female be brought to us on day 9 and be bred three times with 24-48 hours in between breedings.
Do I need to leave my female with you or can she come back home with me?
This is your choice. This decision is usually based on how far away you live from our home. If you live locally, you can bring your female to our home once a day to be bred, and then take her back home with you. You will have to make three or more trips to our home this way. If you live farther away, you may bring your female to us and we will board her for you for up to one week. A boarding fee will be added for any amount of time we board her after the initial week.
Do any guarantees come with the stud service?
We will do our best to make sure your female is properly bred. If your female fails to give birth to at least two live puppies, you will have two options. Option number one is to come back for another stud service at a later heat cycle, free of charge. Option number two is to have your stud fee fully refunded.
What paperwork do I need?
We would like a copy of your dog's pedigree and registration. This information is used to document to which females our stud has been bred. We like to view the pedigree to insure there is no inbreeding being involved. We like to verify this information before the stud service takes place.
What color will the puppies be?
Mason is registered with the color "Golden". However, he is on the lighter side of the medium golden color scheme. He also has many Light Goldens in his pedigree, so he will usually throw light to medium golden puppies. Of course, your female's color will also play a part as to what color the puppies will be. Below is an estimate on what color your puppies will be if sired by Mason:
If your female is Light Golden in color, the puppies will be mostly Light Golden with a few Goldens too.
If your female is Golden in color, the puppies will be mostly Golden, with maybe a Light Golden and/or Dark Golden here or there.
If your female is Dark Golden in color, the puppies will be a mix of Golden to Dark Golden with maybe a Light Golden or two.
